Description
Students with special needs pose a unique problem for any educator. Creating a class that meets the needs of the individual student without becoming exhausted is a challenge for even the most experienced educator. Two issues often arise when an educator is responsible for the education of a student(s) with special needs. One is how to provide individualized instruction to the student and honor their IEP (Individualized Education Plan). Two is where to find material that is appropriate to meet their specific needs. The following adapted biology curriculum provides material that is appropriate for students that are below grade level without losing important content or concepts required by national and state standards. This curriculum also provides a system of instruction for both self-contained special education classes and inclusion classes. The curriculum provided is designed to provide both structure and flexibility for the educator.
