This chapter is divided into two sections.  The first section introduces the theory of natural selection.  It then focuses on the reasons for how the idea of evolution was developed.  The second half of the chapter goes into further detail about evolution and gives more modern ideas including genetics that support evolution and then redefines the theory of natural selection and how it relates to evolution as a whole.
