Students will begin their study of cellular reactions with in-depth study of the photosynthesis which is a cellular process that happens only in autotrophs (plants). They will start the study of photosynthesis by learning about the specific chemical processes and then learn about its importance to the ecosystem. They will continue with a study of cellular reactions by learning about respiration which is a cellular process that happens in both autotrophs (plants) and heterotrophs (animals). This study will include learning about specific chemical processes and then connecting each of these specific chemical reactions together and seeing how they function in an ecosystem.
Topics include the Cell Structure and Function, Cell Theory, Cell Structure, Cell Transport, Limits to Growth, Cell Division, Cell Timing and Research, Matching Cell Parts Game, Label the microscope, Using the Microscope, Observing Cells, Cell Parts, Permeability through Cell Membranes, Potatoes in Salt and Fresh Water, Egg without a shell, Diffusion Cubes, Model of mitosis.
