Public Speaking is a performance course. Students will work to improve the communication skills of public speaking and listening A variety of speeches are prepared, presented and critiqued during the semester. Students do self-evaluations and peer evaluations throughout the course. Presentational opportunities include speeches to inform, persuade, and entertain. One presentation that each student gives several times is called “Opening the class.” A different student opens the class every day. Extemporaneous and impromptu presentational styles delivery are emphasized. Students will have an opportunity to pre-present to peers and interested parties. The primary purpose of the course is to give students an opportunity to make a variety of presentations in the public realm and improve their presentational and listening skills.

The printed or eBook teacher’s edition includes syllabus, pacing guide, detailed daily lesson plans, editable class notes (in PowerPoint form), complete student activity book and editable assessments. Lessons include class notes for lecture support, activities and assignments are designed to engage students in the content while introducing and reviewing essential skills.
