Description
This course contains a variety of different types of text with offerings ranging from Greek Mythology to essays on discoveries. Reading skills such as fact and opinion, plot, characterization, conventions of text, sequential order, main idea, recognizing literary elements, and participating in research are among those introduced throughout the year. An emphasis on a project within each unit not only encourages creativity within reading, writing, listening, and speaking, it also encourages collaboration in order to present information to others. Students will be encouraged to read by the use of high interest texts presented in a variety of ways.
