Description
This course combines literature and writing in an integrated format. The collection of readings spans the globe offering students the opportunity to learn the history of literature (Ancient Greek and Roman) as well as the various styles and subjects written throughout the world. By incorporating writing through every unit of the course, students naturally build their writing skills and voice. Students are guided through the writing process and taught every facet of narrative, persuasive, descriptive, definition, cause and effect, compare and contrast, and poetry writing. The course provides differentiated instruction to ensure that all students will succeed. Included in the detailed lesson plans are activities to strengthen comprehension, analysis and critical thinking skills. The course is designed to create and sustain a productive learning environment and is aligned with both state and national standards. A pacing guide is included to guarantee course completion.
