This course presents an introduction to comprehensive family and consumer science while meeting all the standards for many health programs. Life Management will empower all students with the skills they need to succeed in future career and technical pathways and apply to their daily lives. Eight exciting content areas challenge students to create life-long skills, while time-tested projects and applied academics create a strong link for students to explore possible future career interests. This course covers national and many state standards for family and consumer science, introduction to home economics, and/or health. An easy-to use daily pacing guide provides a clear roadmap for the instructor to reduce teacher prep time and ensure coverage of the required content. A daily lesson plan includes background material for the teacher and teaching strategies to support current methodology. The curriculum uses a wide-variety of teaching strategies and applied methods of learning. Projects and lab experiences use inexpensive and readily available materials. Students don’t say, “I’ll never use this.” They will directly apply these skills to improving their daily lives. Life Management will challenge each student to explore their future career options and learn how to take charge of their life, health, relate to others, create, finish and critic projects, plan for their future personal and financial success and communicate effectively with family and friends.
