This is the second half of an introductory art course that provides sequential learning activities organized around the art elements and principles of design. Students learn about artists and the historical context of art as they create original works and explore a variety of materials and techniques.
Volume 2 of Art 1 contains four units (units 7-10); each unit concludes with a section providing opportunities to respond, review, and reflect on essential ideas and concepts contained in the units. This Semester introduces the art elements of color, form, and space with culminating unit focusing on the Principles of Design.
The teacher’s materials include step-by-step instructions, illustrations, glossaries, teaching strategies, and tools for assessment. The lessons total over 300 pages of information for each semester along with tips for organization and classroom management. Each lesson has rubrics or other assessment tools needed to evaluate student accomplishments and progress.
The Student Activity Book is designed to involve students in worksheets, scoring guides, discussion and reflection questions, homework assignments, and defining art terms. Suggestions for extra credit learning activities are included.
Class Notes are provided in two versions. One or the other may be used depending upon how the classroom is equipped. One version is for overhead projector use and the other for light projector (PowerPoint) presentation. The notes give detailed step-by-step instructions and examples of student work as well as an overview of major concepts and essential questions.
