Psychology is presented as following the methods of science to answer the many questions regarding human behavior. While there are many methods used in Psychology, emphasis is given to experimental procedures. The experimental procedure demonstrates cause and effect. The other methods used by psychologists include the correlational methods, descriptive methods, naturalistic observation, the interview and the survey. Students also need to be aware of the different mathematical summaries of data used by psychologists. They should be able to calculate the measures of central tendency, variability, and correlation. Students also need to know about inferential statistics to evaluate the data in scientific psychology. Students should also learn about the ethics in research and the practice of psychology.
