Description
A richly illustrated course designed to draw even the most skeptical high school student into the science of botany. Key concepts are reinforced with an abundance of engaging labs. Hands-on activities will allow students to study plant biology in the out-of-doors. Class notes, dissection, journaling and use of dichotomous keys address many national, state and local standards. Focus is on the organism level. Students will examine representatives of major plant families and learn structural characteristics taxonomists use in their identification. Lab activities and class notes are designed to highlight the evolutionary significance of modifications and structural adaptations that distinguish plant families. Finally, course materials feature daily lesson plans, labs, demonstrations, a pacing guide, tests with answer keys, a student workbook, and alignments with a host of adopted science standards.
