Course description: A weekly program of vocabulary and grammar study complements content units that use authentic texts for text-handling, genre analysis, written response, written production and oral production. Planning, drafting, peer feedback and editing are components of written production throughout the course. The content units are designed to engage students in issues related to English language cultures as well as to the core IB concepts of international mindedness and TOK’s ways of knowing. Activities develop the skills needed for both internal and external assessment so that students are well prepared for their second-year exams.
The printed or eBook teacher’s edition includes syllabus, pacing guide, detailed daily lesson plans, editable class notes (in PowerPoint form), complete student activity book and editable assessments. Lessons include class notes for lecture support, activities and assignments are designed to engage students in the content while introducing and reviewing essential skills.
