Elementary Mac Computing

by Lisa Yoder

FULL YEAR COURSE MATERIALS

In today's world, technology skills are a must. Some elementary schools require the regular classroom teacher to teach technology, while others have technology staff available. Technology goes hand in hand with everything we do. This course focuses on how to teach technology while encompassing the curriculum from the regular classroom. These technology activities will strengthen each student's technology ability from the student who knows little to the student who is an expert. Activities are fun and motivating, so all students can experience the success which is vital to keeping their interest.

A variety of programs are used in this course. Many of these programs, schools already have available. Programs used in this course include: Kid Pix Deluxe (any version will do), Internet Explorer (or other browser), Keynote (PowerPoint may be used in its place), iMovie, AppleWorks (or Microsoft Word), and HyperStudio.

Many templates are also included with this course. Templates may be downloaded for students to use and manipulate. All activities in this course have been used with students at the suggested grade level. Technology is not just a course of its own. Technology is all about integration.
